Le cose buone arrivano per chi sa aspettare!!! :) Good things come to those who wait!!! :)

I love you all!  I am just sooo happy right now!  I have loved times 10 serving in Roma 3 with Sorella Felice these past couple of days, and I have loved also the fact that the best Gelateria on the planet is within the bounds of Roma 3!!!  Woooo hoo!

But, you guys, I felt so good this week primarily because I learned a HUGE lesson through reading an awesome talk that I will mention a bit later.  BUT, this week I decided to do something a bit different with all of my stories; I quoted bits from my emails with my famiglia!  I hope you enjoy them.  :)

So, Italia.  I have been loving the time I have spent on Scambi (exchanges) because these Sisters are so nice and fun here!  Just yesterday, I got to go finding in a park in the Roma 3 Zone that is lined with Aqua ducts and ancient Roman ruins!  It is soooo cool!  This time, I got to be companions with Sorella Felice, who loves to talk and have fun and get GELATO!!  Lol, all the missionaries here love to get Gelato, bombas (the DELICIOUS only .50 euro donuts stuffed with chocolaty goodness...  OOOOOHHHH MY GOODNESS, they are soooo good!), and granite (LOVE!)  We often see the people who run the Siciliano Gelateria called "Da Sicilia" perche we go there so frequently!  They know us by name and like to practice their English with us.  Last night, on P-day eve ("Peeve" as Sorella Felice calls it ;) they gave us free canoli to try...  HOLY COW, were those good.  Fried shells with sweet Ricotta cheese and Pistachios inside...  THE best.  Wow.  Sicuramente, loro hanno la migliore gelateria in tutta d'italia!

WOW, you are awesome, Dad!  That is great, uplifting advice.  This week, I have found happiness in misery by following the counsel in a talk by Elder Holland Entitled "Lessons from Liberty Jail." That Sister Fuller had sent me.  It was really fantastic, and inspired me to cancel the fear and anger out of myself in order to invite the Spirit to be with me.  (Because the Spirit cannot penetrate fear and pain.)  We have to follow the examples of Joseph Smith, and most of all, our Savior, being cheerful in any challenge that comes our way.  The results of my test with this were literally miraculous.  Even when I was being belittled or began to feel so awful, I cancelled my fear and found extreme happiness and peace in my heart.

I cannot fully explain how this miracle of forgiveness and peace happened, except through my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  I know He trusted me to get through this challenge, and I know that there are many other people (and missionaries) praying for me to get through the rest of this transfer.

We get transfer calls in less than 4 days, btw!!!  XD and Sorella told me to get my Permission before the day of transfers, so that could mean that I am going South! Idk yet though...  Gah!  So crazy, transfers!  LOVE IT!  XD

OH! And, I gotta tell ya, I am really loving life right now, am almost done reading the entire NEW TESTAMENT!!!  XD, I am loving my mission, and I am getting scary good at speaking Italiano!  I wayyyy love talking with people in italiano, and I love love love when they ask me if I am Italian.  Lol.  That’s all I got to say about that.
Altre cose:  I just love Italy, you guys.  I love doing finding on the streets with Pamphlets and sharing a brief testimonianza del Vangelo di Gesù Cristo.  It is received very well nearly every time that I use the opus coli and share my testimony using the images in the pamphlets.  I so love it when people can see the light of Christ in us as missionaries and they begin to want to know more.  We have already set appointments with people by speaking with them this way.  I LOVE doing finding, you guys!  I looooove Speaking Italian, and I am soooooo stoked for transfers!
Until next week!  :D  (Alla prossima settimana!)
Vi voglio bene,

Ostia Finally gets their Own Church!!!!

I have learned this week of the immense power of the Scriptures in answering our prayers.  Every time that I have prayed to Heavenly Father with a question or concern, I have opened the scriptures to find a very precise, very specific answer to my questions.  It has been so beautiful.  I encourage all of you to pray and search the scriptures, because the answers to the questions of life, even specific questions, can be found in that manner.

SO!  :) I got to do a Scambio this week, and it has been fabulous!  :D We got to go over to this really nice man's house (Michele) for dinner, and we talked to him about cowboy movies, and Cowboys and Indians type stuff :) and then, we got to get GRANITAS!!!  (SOOOO GOOD!!!  XD  They are a type of Sicilian Slushie- I have had the mandorla, cioe almond, and the strawberries and cream type, cioe fragola).  BTW, I get to be with the Sisters Pancheri and Bradford as comps, and they are the best!  :D  We are in an apartment with Sorelle Felice, and Pace.  It is really fun, and they are all really great missionaries.

ALSO!!!  :D  Our new chapel opened up in Ostia- finally!!  After over 10 years of meeting in hotel meeting rooms, and other random places, these wonderful people get their chapel!  :D  They sooooo deserve it.  We had our activity on Saturday night where we got to be with the ward and see people who have been less or inactive for quite a while.  Fratello Mangiacotti even came!  Lol, and funny enough, we talked about western films too!  (Fistful of dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly... etc!)  He is really great.  He loves old film.

I just cannot fully express to you how much I love my ward in Ostia.  I cannot thank the Lord enough for them and for their beautiful Spirits.  :D  PLUS we got to have church in the new chapel for the FIRST time ever, and it was really really great.  I got to say hi to everybody and I got to sit by Teresa as well.  It was an amazing experience.

Also, I was talking with Sister Bradford and Anziano Bennett on the Metro today and they asked me, "where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world after your mission?"  I told them "I would go to my Uncles house in Hawaii with my family.  :)   I would really love that soooo much.  It was really fun to talk with them.

For p-day, we got to go to the Castello St. Angelo, which is beautiful!  :D  We didn’t get to go in, but it was really cool to be there and to cross the beautiful bridge you have to take to get there.  It was sooo nice.  We also got Gelato afterwards at this realllllllly awesome Siciliano Gelateria.  LOVE IT!!  :D  Lol, I always go to the Sicilian Gelaterie.  I hope to go there some time soon.  :)

Welp, that is all I have for this week!  :D I hope to have more for next week, and to hear from you all soon.  :)

Vi voglio bene,
Sorella Cherrington

The Lord's Work Must Go On!!!!!! :)

Hey guys! This week was Wayyyyyyyyyy better than last week. After we got to talk to the Mission Pres and his wife, things got much better and from the blessing I got, I felt prepared to do my %100 best to love my companion and to not only serve the magnificent people here, but also her. Anyways! My birthday was on Firday, and I got to celebrate it by going to the Office in Rome to pick up my package from Mom, Dad, and Andy :), which the Steurs gave us special permission to do. And thank goodness! Idk what I would have done without the Peanut butter than Ma sent me! ;D Loved it! AND the stickers and soap.... Ooooooh Yeah! :D And after that, we got to go over to the Padilla’s house for dinner. :) I wrote more about this in a letter to you guys (famiglia) so I won’t go in depth. But, it was such a blessing to be there where they made a torta per me, ed anche hanno detto quanto grati erano che ho scelto di essere con loro per il mio cumpleanno. :) And MOM! I love that you write Italian phrases to me in your emails! :D Another thing, I got Sister Chisams letter :) and I forgot to mention a while ago that I also got the fantastic Ms. Jiminezs Letter anche! :D I dk when I will be able to write back, so I hope that they know that I love them and that I am trying to find time to write them. :) Annnd, I am worried about Barbara Bartolucci, you guys! She is sick and has had to go to the hospital for lots of tests. If you can, please pray for her. She’s also been trying really hard to get her family into the gospel. I really care about her, and I hope yall can pray for her when you get the chance. Church on Sunday was one of the BEST Sundays of my life. I know that Heavenly Father knew it was my b-day and that he blessed me abundantly this past week. In church, I got to see all these people here who I love soo much (a lot of them were gone for holiday, but I still got to see a lot of my fav peeps here :). My favorite parts were seeing Rona (a Philipina who just moved into our ward) and taking pics with her and Rachele after church to celebrate the LAST Sunday in the hotel! :D Our new chapel opens THIS SUNDAYY!!! Wooooo hoo! XD We will be having a party of sorts the day before, and I am soooo excited! :D And then there was my moment with Michaila Banchini. She came up to me after relief Society and told me how much she loves me and how she thinks I am special. I told her I love her too and that I know she is special too. She is really awesome. THEN there was my buddy Theresa, who speaks English because she went on her Mission to Missouri! :D She usually sits in the back, and I had been wanting to sit by her for a really long time, but have not gotten the chance. Sooo, I finally got to sit by her, and I told her about how I had been wanting to sit by her for a long time. She was really happy to hear that someone wanted to sit by her, and she gave me a pink bracelet that I told her I would wear for ever. Which I will :) And if it breaks, I will continue to wear it on my heart because I love Teresa so much. She is one of the funniest, kindest people I have ever met. Sooooo, we have Zone Conference this coming Friday, which I am really excited for. We will get to hear from the Waddoups and from the ZLs and STLs (Sister Training Leaders). I am also really excited to see Sisters Pancheri, Omer, Caramia, and Sooooo many other awesome Missionaries who I love. I do have a request for you all this week too: Can you pray for me to be able to have the strength I need to stand up for myself and to have %100 faith in myself? I would really appreciate your prayers this week. Please know that I pray for all of you- Morning, Midday, and night if I can, and I love you sooo much. Ciao ciao for now! :) Love, Sorella Corey Anne Cherrington

Blog Post for August 7th Email From Sorella Corey Anne Cherrington!!! & Happy Birthday Corey, on August 9th, 2013

On the plus side of this week, I got to spend a couple of days with Sister Omer, who is one of my favorite people in the world.  :)  I think she has some disabilities of sorts, but I absolutely LOVE serving with her.  :)  She is so direct, calm, and happy.  If she ever thought I was trying too hard to make her comfortable, she would say "Vai tranquila" and would make me feel more comfortable.  I got to cook for her a lot (made tons of weird pastas :) and no matter how interesting they got, she would say, "Vai tranquila, I am good with anything you make" :)  She is a native Italian, so we communicated in Italian, except for the random English phrases that we would say to each other, like "Come on bus, who do you think you are?!"  Lol, she is great :)  And I let her sleep in my bed because she chose it straight when she arrived at our apartment and thought it looked more comfy :) I was glad to share my things with her.  ALSO!  She is interested in all sorts of books, and is way smart!  (She told me that my bday is also the historic date when one of the atomic bombs went down on Japan in WW2).  So she would look through all my books and stuff that I have.  I really didn’t mind at all because of how much I like her :)
Also, Mom, you can send the other emails to family if you like :)

And a member here, Barbara Bartolucci, helped me out a TON yesterday because I was soooo sad and she noticed.  We ended up going to this Gelateria with "il gelato"  (equivalent of THE Gelato ;)  Barbara is soooo great!  I took a pic of us three, but still cannot upload photos because my cord is gone...  Can you guys maybe send me a new one?  Or one of those converters that converts a camera memory card into a USB?  I would really appreciate that :)  So, Barbara is also one of my favorite people ever, and I am really thankful for her in my life :)

Until next week.....................Sorella Corey Anne Cherrington
